Hello all, I would not like to use my full name so you can call me theman6. I am a short man, and instead of writing a long post about the experiences of heightism and how I have realized it. I want too focus on a positive solution instead. Heightism is real and it is alive. I feel it alot, I feel it when I talk to girls, talk to certain guys, try to pitch out an idea and be taken seriously. I often get told too stop bitching when I try and bring it up, but why when someone treats a women differently for unhealthy life choices they are deemed too be the worst person on the planet? I hear alot of people saying we need too make things moe inclusive for short people. In my humble opinion that is bullshit. What would that really achieve? Imagine we had a movement too make people stop being mean too short people...what would that acclompish? The way people look at us has nothing to do with a structure that the "tall man" created. It is written into our genetic code. We are simply seen as smaller, not as strong and protective, not able too handle bigger tasks etc. Making people aware of this would just make people feel bad for us, I do not want anyone feeling bad for me because of my height. It is not inclusiveness we should be focusing on but a movement we all need too come foward and start that makes us ask "how do we get taller?" Ah yes I know what many of you are thinking. " ITll NEVER HAPPEN". Well that is only the case if we do not try and find it. There are ways to make people taller through limb lengthening but this surely is not the answer. Imagine 2100 when our species is traveling between planets, do you really think the only way too become taller will be through breaking bones and having them being slowly pullled apart and risking your proportions that are just as important? Science is figuring out the craziest things, every day things are changing. Things that were deemed "impossible" earlier this year are now deemed possible (example head transplant). Science is moving at a blistering fast rate, I saw where they can now create heart tissue using a leaf! The point is we can not let ourselves not be heard or left behind. If the right medical research is done correctly I certainly believe that one day we will be able to grow taller and end this stigma. But in order to push for this we need as a community too spread out reach out and start asking more questions and come together too figure this out. Heightism is 100% real, but because we are "men" we are afraid too admit or we are not allowed too say these things. There are countless men in hollywood who have it all but are still judged for their height. We need too come forward TOGETHER too fix this not only for us but for future generations. No more complaining, lets find a solution!

If anyone wants to discuss the merits(or more like lack of) in his post, I'm leaving the post here for this purpose, but the rules clearly state that this is not a "grow taller" forum. If anyone else is lurking and wants to make our height seem like the issue, instead of society's views on our height, please go register at r/short because they'll welcome you with open arms.

And I want to add that the first thing that's profoundly idiotic about the notion that we need to encourage science to "fix" our height is that if everyone gets taller, heightism will still be prevalent, but the minimum height that is considered short will just increase. So, basically, the only people who will still be short by today's standards are people who can't afford the "grow taller" procedures. Tall people already make more money than short people, so the short people who don't have access to the height-increasing procedures will be struggling in an even more substantial cycle of discrimination.

Great, another idiot who will never understand the mechanics of heightism.

Great, another idiot who will never understand the mechanics of heightism. I banned him. We're not going to tolerate that type of foolishness here. Maybe he should advocate for science to come-up with procedures that increase both courage and intelligence. I'll even start a GoFundMe to make sure that he gets on the list to receive the first dosages that are administered.

It will just be a competition to be the tallest, and the shorter you are the lower people view you on the totem pole, so heightism will just become worse. It's already bad enough that anyone under 6 feet is already being somewhat stigmatized, we don't need the bar to be 7 feet, because our actual heights are not important, this suggestion is just pacifying the masters who view us as children no matter how we act, because it doesn't address heightism directly.

Exactly. It will just intensify the same cycle. I don't care if we never get the results we desire by challenging the bigots, pointing-out double standards, etc., the fact remains that society has worships tall men and degrades short men almost to the point that it's a mental illness. That issue needs to be addressed because it truly is the sole issue. He's right that we may not see any results of our efforts, but at a bare minimum, we need to keep collecting evidence and continue to establish the template to follow IF short men ever decide that enough is enough. We're obviously not at that point if short men are still advocating that we get our leg bones broken and potentially give ourselves numerous health problems in the future just so we can be a few inches taller. The only time leg lengthening needs to be discussed on this forum is when we point-out how severely society hates short men if they're willing to put themselves at risk like that, and we can also discuss how this isn't a legitimate remedy because it takes the focus off bigots and heightism. "Make Me Taller" posts have been against the forum rules from the get-go, so he earned his ban.
