I'm an artist and I've been thinking about making my own cartoon short for years now but haven't come up with any real content to go with it.
Now that I discovered about heightism last year, I've always been dreaming of making a cartoon short (like 5 minutes long cartoon) to show descrimination that short people are receiving. I think it would be perfect, cuz it would really get the message across.
I'm very good at making stuff happen from scratch, like cartoon, drawing, animation, sculpting, comic books, etc.
What do you think?
I'm in a rush. Gotta get ready to go to an art gallery later today. I'll come back here to explain more in detail.
Please let me know what you think of this idea?

YES, YES, AND MORE YES!!!! We need anything and everything to tackle the issues that we are faced with, and cartoons are a great way to introduce people to the concept of heightism without overburdening them.

Sorry for delayed response.
I now finally got time to type down everything about what I plan to do.
I'm so excited to do something like this!!
I don't know how the story should be told, but Im just gonna go ahead and post it.
-----Characters-----
Before I type down the quick summary of the cartoon short, what kind of characters do you want them to be? They can be humans but I think , for example, giraffes, or even sheep would be better. The story is to be conveyed as something of another world, we step outside of our reality and see just how stupid prejudice against short men can look when we're viewing them differently. It also would help avoid "diversity". If we use humans, then we would have to carefully hand pick specific ethnicity for each character just so we don't rub it the wrong way.
I think aliens, or sheep would be kinda cool. What kind of creatures do you think the characters should be to make heightism more recognized?
There is no main character, just variety of situations that occur to display what heightism looks like.
----The story-----
I was thinking of making a cartoon short similar to something like this:
Just different situations that turn out bad. No good result for every dumb solution they think they had figured out for short people.
I don't want to mock heightism. That's not what I'm going for. I want to mock people's complete bias against short people. I want to show just how stupid these people would look when telling short people to grow as taller, thinking there's a solution to that. This is the part where you come in to help clarify the issues in regards to height descrimination.
I'll start...
Let's use sheep as people who are bias against short men, and short sheep as short men who struggle through life.
Tall sheep walks to bump against short sheep. Short sheep looks back at tall.
Short: Hey! Why'd you--
Tall: why'd I what?? ( walks into his face)
Tall: I would've respected you if you were taller! Get outta my face, you worthless little sheeplet.
Short: wow. You need to learn your manners!
Tall sheep was laughing and walked away with his tall friends. His tall friends would saying something like "the nerve of that shorty! He's got naplolean complex for sure!"
Now, the group of tallers bumped into someone even taller. Let's say, this group of tall sheep are about 6 ft tall. The one they bumped into is a giraffe. The tallers called him a god. They thought he was amazing just for being tall.
The giraffe didn't know what in carnation was going on. The giraffe actually looked directly at you (viewers) that these tallers are just plain crazy. The tallers asked the giraffe just how did he grow so tall.
Giraffe: I didn't work for it. I just happen to be tall. It's just genetics.
For some reason, the group of tall sheep don't believe him. They want to get as tall as the giraffe so they can be respected, loved, gifted.
The tall sheep did the unthinkable. They used all kinds of stupid tactics, tricks, lies, camera angles, photoshop, to make themselves look as tall as the giraffe.
Tall sheep #1
He added 8" inches in his shoes, and 5" in his hair. He walks down the street. The regular sheep stare at him in bewilderment, but this tall sheep thinks they're staring at him in awe.
Tall sheep #2
He goes to see a doctor to start his leg lengthening procedure. The doctor did so, and now this tall sheep is in a wheelchair, he can't walk on his legs, because they're going through the healing process. 10 years after he finally can start walking, but he's limping, so he needs to walk with a crane.
Tall sheep #3
She is a female sheep and decides to perform exercises and yoga to make herself naturally taller. After 2 years of rigorous training, she finally gained 1" inch in height, but then within the next year, she lost an inch of height due to her age. She buys high heels and puts in fake padding a in her buttocks and boobs. Goes through plastic surgery to make her face look like a female giraffe. She tells all the short sheep that they're losers just for being short and she doesn't want to be any part of their lives (thankfully).
In the end, all three of these fools walk down the street with pride. The giraffe and the short sheep have already been friends since these tall sheep were too busy trying to look taller. Short sheep and the giraffe were sitting on the other side of the street (eating popcorn together) and they've been watching the tall sheep making fools of themselves the entire time.
What do you think? Good idea to make something like this into a cartoon?

I think you have a good start here. My suggestion would be to make several episodes of the cartoon and deal with one issue at a time. Getting people to understand heightism is a hard sell as it is, so it needs to be broken down into manageable pieces. An example of what I'm talking about is have one episode dealing with trying to get taller, have one episode dealing with the taller animals dismissal of the notion that the sheep are mistreated, etc.
Also, you've made the giraffe seem too innocent. He needs to receive numerous privileges that he is absolutely unaware of, he needs to diminish the sheep's opinion, and he needs to get extremely offended and hostile toward sheep who don't give him the amount of deference and privilege that he feels entitled to. He should also try to counteract the notion that he is privileged by painting minor inconveniences he goes though as "discrimination." His mentality needs to be "So what if people sheer all of your wool off and make mutton out of you...at least you don't bump your head on tree branches"

Alright. I think I can do that.
What kind of privileges does the giraffe get? Many examples of it would be great!
The branch bit is a great idea!
The media started this whole mess, so we should use the media to get back at them. I believe the media seems to really change a lot of people. That's why we've been so ingrained to think taller means better. We see A LOT of that in the media.
Right?

I just realized this kind of animation is a lot of work. Hopefully I'll find some artists to work with me on this. A 5 minute long cartoon is hard work. About three thousand frames for that a video that long. I still want to make a cartoon with higher quality. Low quality don't really get as much views unless it's comedy. Higher quality cartoon is often taken more seriously.
Three different cartoon shorts will be enough. Maybe 3 minutes long each?
Hey how do I post my picture in this forum?

Sir I would use sarcasm and humor, but in the form of the "Far Side".
For example: You a caveman is standing next to a T-Rex he just killed. There are 2 cave women looking at him and one says to the other. If only he were taller.
Example: You have 2 women. One is beaten up and talking to her friend. The woman says to the beaten women. Why do you stay with him? She says, Do you know how are it is to find a man 6'4"?
Example: You use a real heightist in this cartoon, someone who actually preaches taller people are smarter, better, etc. The next frame he is at the gates of heaven, and St. Peter is at the gate. St. Peter is 4' tall. St. Peter says, "As you were saying"
Example: Two women are talking to each other. One woman says she has been looking for a tall man for 20 years without any luck. The other woman then says, Well why don't you date shorter men? The other woman says, I need to feel protected. The other women says, Who has been protecting you for the last 20 years? The other woman is shown with a dumb and confused look on her face.
Example: 3 women who are overweight are talking about how men are so shallow. How men should judge women on their character and not just physical parameters. A shorter man walks by then in the next frame of the cartoon. One women then says, I wouldn't date him, no mater how good a man he was. He is not tall enough. The other 2 women look at the 3rd woman in shock, due to the double standard.

Fjohnson,
Thank you so much for a list of examples!
I like your entire list a lot. It stings into their heads with just how stupid it really is to make height a determining factor of a happy life!
I have to say examples one and four are the best ones. I like the third example, too. The fourth one really is the best one. That one would really hit them in the head by making them realize that the modern world is completely different than the ancient time period due to technology, weapons, bombs, etc. The only muscle that displays superiority is our brains, unlike the ancient times when they were forced to use physical muscles, speed, and size.
Also, let's not use too much of the opposite sex interaction on this one, because women are going to think that short men are just butt-hurt that women don't want them.
The only thing coming from women that I hate is how they just disrespect me, no matter if I'm already taken or not. Men are also the exact same way. They scoff at me when I'm walking around with my shorter girlfriend, minding my own business, and they probably were mocking my girlfriend just because she's walking around with me.
We would have to come up with examples like the third example. Something outside the dating world. People's perceptions on height is skewed, and THAT causes every other aspects of life including dating and jobs.
I think a lot of short men (including me) have the habit of focusing on the reaction of women disrespecting short men because a lot of us grew up focusing on women a teeny bit too much without knowing it. The real issue lies far deeper than just how women think of us.
What about how the kids think of us short men? What do other parents think of us? What do teenagers (both boys and girls) think of us? What do handsome, tall men think of us? What do the athletic tall men think of us? What do OTHER short men, who are just an inch or two taller than us, think of us? What do people of different color think of us? That's the issue we need to tackle.

More 4 U
Frame 1 shows a group of young women hunched over using walkers and canes to get around and are walking into each other, as well. The sign behind them says, “ Hospital for women who bent down to kiss their boyfriends”. There are 2 men in the frame, as well. One man says to the other,”Have you ever seen hospitals for men who bent down to kiss their girlfriends? The other man says”They must have weak backs and minds.” A women (1) is talking to another woman (2). Woman (1) is holding a huge list of requirements of any man she is to date. The list has, talks about his feelings, likes cats, yoga, tofu, giving massages, etc. The next frame a tall good looking man walks by. Frame 3 you see the list stuffed into a garbage can and she is running after the man. There are 2 men watching all of this, and one man says to the other, “Should we tell her he’s gay?” or “I guess the list was for short men” A woman is talking to another about what she wants in a man and lists 3 or 4 items, behind her up in the corner of the frame is Age 20. There are 5-6 men in the frame as well. The next frame she is talking to the same women and is continuing with the list, and up in the corner it now says Age 25 and there are only 3-4 men in the frame, she is still taking to the same women and adding more requirements, the corner is says Age 30 and there are only 2 men in the frame, frame 4 says Age 35 and she is standing by herself. She is holding the list and says,”Where did all the good men go?” There are no men in the frame. Hitting the wall at 30. There is a brick wall with the number 30 on it. You see women walking into it and then falling down on the ground. There are 2 male EMT’s who pickup these women on a stretcher and carry them off. As they are carrying one woman off, one man says to the other. “How is it that they never saw this coming.” Or “They can easily see the flaws in men, but couldn’t see this?”
