I'm coming foward, I'm actually 5'9", but I always keep educated and in the few who want to intelligently discuss heightism, and i've done so much research and contributed enough to fighting heightism, people need to stop using my height as an argument for why I can't participate, when obviously contributions are the only important factor. Anyway, here's another heightism anecdote So interesting story, I was educating a tall man on heightism and the tactics that are used and he kept asking "what could I do to get educated" I explained that we always keep having to explain ourselves, and that we didn't create the stereotypes/society is at fault, and that we need certain influences, so alot of people have good intentions when they want to get educated, but they fail to realize what a garmin is, that rarely anyone speaks up for short men and heightism is so out of control that we can only have real discussions on a board that has under 10 members. It really gets tiring having to reeducate and having to go into deep sociological concepts to educate the average person, but i'm not opting out of this fight, because I know heightism is wrong and will continue to be part of the fight, because anyone who is educated should be accepted into our community.

I know exactly why you posted this. R/short has hijacked its own subreddit by having this continual war between the 5'7-5-9 guys and the guys who are well below average. This is another example of short people derailing their own efforts. The only time being almost-average height should come into play is if some 5'8-5'9 person is doubting the seriousness of heightism or giving the good old kawnfoodinz speech to someone who's 5'3 etc.
Obviously, you don't fit in that category because you know how to discuss the systemic effects of heightism, and you even wrote a school paper on the issue, which is something that not many people have done at any time in history.
If someone articulates the issues and fights for the cause, they're an ally. Plain and simple. Even if you were 6'2, I'd rather have five 6'2 guys helping us out than five Garmins holding us back any day of the week.
