This is from r/short. Here's the post.
"I was just talking with my friends and having a good time when all of the sudden one of them decides to point out that i'm short, i then called out his bullshit and started to list off some biological flaws he had such as his horrible acne and now all of the sudden i'm the bad guy. I'm really sure that it wasn't a joke that i didn't get, it was just a flat out statement about my height. Now he is mad at me and none of my other friends seem to take neither of our sides. Sure it was wrong of me to start digging into him but what was the point to state something about my height? This isn't the first time, all the other times i've just taken it i guess. I get that i could be a little bit one sided but damn it's frustrating, the people on this sub should especially know about that. Btw i'm 5’5”."

First, OP absolutely did the right thing by returning fire when the taller insulted him. Take notice of how this wasn't the first time that the taller had mentioned OP's height, thus, the mention of his height wasn't something he had just noticed on the spot, it is something that he has remarked on in this past. For that reason, this can't be passed-off as just some random thought, therefore, this was most likely an attempt the taller made to enhance his own social standing by degrading OP's height. The fact that OP is somewhat apologetic about having defended himself shows how hard short men get hammered for defending themselves. Even if this was just light trash talk, why does OP feel the need to be slightly remorseful for doing the same thing the tall did? That's the way trash talk works. Your opponent insults you, and you insult them back. However, short men aren't expected to participate in trash talk, they're just supposed to tapdance in a circle so that everyone in attendance can join-in on laughing at the fact that the short guy got clowned.
Also, notice how OP's "friends" are remaining non-committal about the whole incident. OP wasn't in the wrong at-all, and the fact that the taller threw a tantrum when he got a dose of what he was giving makes it blatantly obvious that the taller is being a crybaby. Knowing that this is the case, notice how none of OP's friends will even take his side in a private one-on-one conversation that doesn't involve the tall who instigated the entire incident. This tells you everything you need to know about OP's friends. The entire incident was started by the tall, and the incident was escalated further by the tall when he threw a tantrum when OP returned fire just like any man in this situation had the right to do. As we know though, short men aren't afforded the leeway to defend themselves like "real men." This is the cornerstone reason the tall threw a tantrum and the same reason OP's friends have gone silent instead of agreeing with his actions.
I'm going to watch this thread because it is a potential haven for Garmins and other self-loathing short men, in addition to talls who come to protect their entitlements.
