So i was thinking about getting limb lengthening surgery to be taller. But I have weighed the pros and cons about the surgery. And I am certain that it is not an option for me. I weighed both the pros and cons about doing this surgical procedure and this is what I came up with:
CONS
Cost: The surgery in the United States is 100 000 dollars. In Russia is 16 000 dollars. 16 000 dollar could be affordable for anyone. But that doesnt include cost of airplane ticket, hotel, medication and corrective procedure and after care.
Pain: Upon my research it seems as though this procedure is not pain free. Not only that after doing the procedure, it would take one year to recover and have to continuous be on pain medication.
Disproportion: There is a possibility that our limbs may look procedure. I am guess that in order to look proportional additional costs have to be added.
Feeling emptiness: Im a big believer that sometimes surgery doesnt fix what needs to be healed inside. I think if a person doesnt feel good about themselves no matter amount of cosmetic surgery can fix whats broken on the inside.
Unnatural: Being taller through surgery is unnatural. Its cosmetic surgery and for me I would feel fake. Its like being proud of something that isnt yours permanently.
PROS:
Being taller
social life might improve _ since tallness is associated with attractiveness in our world. I am guessing that one's social life would improve.
Higher wage - taller people often times make more money than shorter people.
Not being bullied" Feeling like you are finally part of the social class and not be marginalized.
Although there would be positives to limb lengthening surgery, the risks doesnt outweigh the benefits for me. I personally feel that If I would choose to be taller I would be betraying myself. I would be saying there is a problem with being short and not heightism. Heghtism is the culprit. Although a challenging thing to fight. I think fighting heightism will outweight the benefit of lim lenghtening surgery. What arte your thoughts of limb lengthening surgery?
