Heightism is definitely a huge issue. But I think what makes it worse when there are some short people who are also heightist. In my experience because I am really short, I have had other short people, though taller than me treat me differently. This happens frequently online. I have notice that whenever I tell other short people, and to be fair other average to tall people about my height..they would treat me differently. Sometimes people would stop talking to me completely. Other times some people would start to bully me, lose their patience, and then use other excuses to get rid of me because they thought they were better than me. I feel like because short is stigmatized in our world that some short people internalize that stigma and when they see other short people whome they are a bit taller,,they feel a bit more superior and then treat me badly or differently.

The issue is that everyone is indoctrinated to be heightist, whether they are short, tall, or average-height. The only people who see heightism for what it is are those who put forth the effort to think of things on a deeper level and to deprogram themselves of the nonsense society hammered into them from an early age. Yes, short people who re-direct the heightism they receive toward other short people are focusing their energies in the wrong direction, but the beneficiaries of heightism are far more complicit in ensuring that our marginalization continues because they're the ones who hold all of the power.
People do certainly lose their patience with us and use excuses to discard short people. They see our attempts at engaging in normal adult endeavors as childish attempts to participate in things that they believe we don't have the ability, competence, and maturity to handle. At best, they humor us, and they shoo us away once they give us the common courtesy of tolerating us for however long they deem necessary. Short people are by far not the main culprits in this type of behavior though. The beneficiaries of heightism are far more of an issue in this regard because a short person trying to enter into a tall person's realm is a threat to the very system that allows the tall person to indulge in the undeserved rewards society assigns to tall people.

Yeah, I guess it's a question of enlightenment. If I ever treat other short people any differently, it is only ever insofar as I'm more open with them. Somewhere in my subconscious, I guess I'm less fearful of judgement, and more comfortable around people who are closer to my stature. I suppose that makes me heightist too though. I know I've had situations where I've interpreted something that was probably neutral as negative, just because it was directed at me by a tall person. I've had to adapt NAWALT, for tall people, as NATPALT, and try to remind myself that there are exceptions.

That was well said. You dissected the problem, and the power structure excellently.
