www.reddit.com/r/short/comments/2z3u15/411_male_here_24_years_old_i_try_to_be_confident/ This is old, but I thought it would be good to post because it makes clear points about heightism. That people will judge you based only on your height and not even let you talk. The interviewer is probably 6'2", and the other interviewee is about 6'0"-6'1". The two of them were talking and basically at eye level and I'm standing there like an idiot feeling like a little kid. Anyone could tell the decision was made before I had the chance to say a word by the look on the interviewers face when he looked at the two of us. As we all know, he was judged only on his 11 inch below average stature and they didn't even look at performance, nothing new. They also blatantly commented on the height difference without again talking at all about his performance in the interview.Well the interviewers think I left, because they are walking past the bathroom and I randomly start hearing them say "Holy shit, that guy was like a midget." to which the other guy says "Do we need to put a 'you must be this tall to interview' sign outside I majored in business in college and graduated last year. Long story short, I've been living at home for almost a year now and after 30+ interviews have not gotten a single job offer, even after having what I'd call mostly great interviews. It might not have been "you're too short to work here", but it's implied. It was most definitely not just "implied". This guy is 4'11", so there is no way his height isn't factoring in to every job interview he gets. This story also shows that women are not the only ones who are heightist, and that men judge just as harshly as women who reject short men, if not much more. Notice the 5'7" guy trying to offer advice as if he has any idea what being even short for a woman is like, let alone a man. I thought this was good to bring up because it shows us how much heightism affects a short guys job search, very undoubtedly at 4'11", How men and women are both heightist, and how "confidence" and "good looks" will always fall flat, not that we didn't already know that but society needs proof.
