I'm just going to be brutally honest here. At this point in-time, the anti-heightism realm is in the worst shape that I have ever seen it. Things have always ebbed and flowed a bit, but at this point, we have absolutely flat-lined.
We haven't had any newcomer blogs or sites in what has to have been a couple of years now. The few people who are joining are doing so in piece-meal fashion, and aren't putting forth enough effort to help us gain some semblance of a group dynamic.
No one who is involved in the fight works together. We've all been fragmented and have had our team dynamic disappear into the wind due to contrasting philosophies, different sites we're loyal to, and some have relegated into Garminism, little tough guy machismo, etc.
There's barely any new content generated. Even the vets in the game have slowed to a crawl or come screeching to a halt, and it is easy to see why.
R/short, which used to have an occasional spark here-and-there has been completely taken-over by Garmins, white knights, tallers, hateful women, and wannabe Casanovas. They also can't stay on the topic of heightism, and don't care to. They'd rather fragment themselves into several different foolish factions, and get into side and meta arguments about BS that they shouldn't even be discussing in the first place.
The media doesn't seem to want to even discuss heightism, even in the tongue-in-cheek way that it used to enjoy doing, and of course, still seems more than happy to perpetuate heightism through advertising, proliferation of stereotypes, degrading Hollywood roles, and so-on. All of this is still occurring unchallenged.
No one even pays attention to my child suicide posts anymore. The extreme nature of the heightism in those posts was enough to get some surface empathy going in the past, but even that has run its course.
Hell man, all cards on the table, we can't even keep a good discussion going on this forum. We have 26 members, and we don't even really have five regular contributors. After we re-launched this forum several months ago, I vowed to create new types of content once we had a good nucleus of posters here. Guess what? That nucleus never showed-up. We're running on fumes at this point.
Also, I jumped into a Twitter debate the past few days. I did so because someone tagged me into a conversation, and I've always promised to defend short men when they needed my assistance. Another reason I jump into those debates is to get a sense of where short men are in regard to speaking their mind on heightism. Know what type of backup I have had for the entirety of the debate? Other than the guy who tagged me, and some other guy who made a few hit-and-run comments, I had absolutely no backup. Even on Twitter, there used to be several guys who would sporadically jump into the mix and throw some jabs, but now, I'm on an island all alone. We have no power if we have no group, so I can only do so much being the lone voice of sanity. There's one guy on Twitter who sort of challenges heightism, but he only interjects himself into dating conversations. He discusses the heightist parts of the dating narrative, but still, that's not the end-all be-all of heightism. This is another issue with our cause. We have to get past the over-focus on dating issues. That's not the crux of heightism, and has never been. With all of the problems of the anti-heightism factions of the past, none of them ever wanted to discuss dating more than the more serious elements of heightism. This dating obsession started with...yep...you guessed it, r/short. Realistically though, the dating obsession isn't going to stop when we're going to allow teenagers and intellectually-immature adults to be the most prominent voices, so we've lost that battle for the time being. We're not only moving in reverse, but we're fading into the darkness as we retreat.
Seriously, all of these reasons I've just mentioned, in addition to heightism becoming more intense, doesn't bode well for us in the near future. Short men are less ready to move forward than they were ten years ago, and aren't going to be ready to change their tune for God knows how long? We're dealing with a lot of other factors in society that are holding us back as well, such as men(especially short men) being indoctrinated to be timid good boys, fluffcore rhetoric about confidence and "showing the world how special you are," and the rise of entitled women who have become untouchable for any and all of their actions, and of course, the fact that the aforementioned docile, young men are eager to bow down to and serve these women.
Also, society has drawn a line in the sand by stating that no more social groups are going to be allowed to form. It doesn't matter how much merit our arguments have, they don't want us treading on their comfort zone just on the basis that many other groups have done so in recent years. Also, of course, as we all know, unfortunately, many people in those groups that have been granted more consideration recently are using their newfound power to heap a nice helping of hatred in our direction. All of these issues are meshing together to ensure that short men stay docile, in the shadows, and resigned to their fate of being whipping boys who aren't granted serious consideration.
There's not much we can do for now other than wait for short men to wake-up. Who knows when and if that will happen? It's glaringly-obvious that we can't drag them out of the shadows kicking and screaming. I'm getting sick and tired of the bigots who attack us having a support system while we get left on an island alone. I've grown weary of short men lurking in the shadows and watching the few short men who speak for them being slaughtered every time they speak-out. The silence of short men tells us exactly where we currently are, and those of us who used to generate tons of content have read the writing on the wall and know that our efforts aren't being supported by the very people we have tried to help from day-one. All I can say to the few short men who actually do want a better lot in life is to batten down the hatches because a shitstorm is coming our way, and our fellow short men have decided to leave us all at the mercy of society's whims, so we'd better prepare for the devastation that is headed our direction in the coming years. I've felt it in my personal life, and I've seen it everywhere else. It's becoming more overt and less subtle by the minute. The end result is not going to be pretty, so I'd suggest that each and every one of you scramble to put some semblance of a social shelter together to weather the storm.
