This latest commercial by spectrum tv shows a small puppet of a man who is conversing with monsters who were not of short stature at a poker table. The puppet then says he was refered to as a kid while on a date. At the end of the conversation the puppet says something to the affect of carrying out a hit on "the competitor", as if he were a hit man. This commercial ends with the phrase "tv that's missing stuff is evil". Is this a subliminal shot at short men? Is this the type of imagery that conditions the mind not to respect short men or little people. Should this be acceptable humor? I would like to know what others think. The link is below

I'm actually a bit unsure with what to think of this as a whole. It starts-off by parodying the notion that shortness is childlike with the anecdote about the waitress offering a kid's menu and referring to the short character as a "little boy." That part of the commercial is most definitely a laugh at the trials and tribulations of short men.
Another important element of the commercial is the "lack of DVR," which is missing from DirecTV. I'm not sure that this parallels the short character's height because the focus turned to the caveman's belief that they wouldn't pause the tv because of anti-caveman bigotry. I feel like the "evil" of DirecTV missing something is revealed in the argument that was created by the caveman's perception that he was being hated-on, and not by the short character's short stature.
The final element we need to consider would be the short character acting as a hit man. I do feel like this part of the commercial either plays-off the notion of the "little evil man," or maybe it's a sight-gag where the "joke" is that the smallest character has the most bravado in boasting that he's going to take care of business. Regardless of which of those two things were the actual catalyst, I'm pretty confident in stating that the shortest character was chosen to deliver this line based on the fact that he is the shortest character.
This is a great find, coolerguy. Thanks for posting it.

Your welcome, I'm glad someone else actually picked up on what I saw and felt. Just more conditioning as usual, like there aren't a ton of other ways to entertain without using the little man angle.
