Almost everyone who has ever engaged with heightism has this absurd idea that engaging with heightists, and anyone who bashes an unprotected group in general is "the worst strategy", you're only feeding the trolls, just block and report...I think you know what i'm talking about. This behavior really pisses me off and needs to die. "What are you even trying to accomplish by talking to them?" more than the person popping out of the shadows to let heightists have a free for all field day by marking them as irrelevant, that's for sure. When anyone calls out heightists (mostly women because they have to soften the criticism for the precious gender)if I had a nickel for everytime someone said these things, "why waste your time on someone like that" why are you even engaging", you went to a feminist website, what did you expect, I would have enough money to make short men legally protected in every state.

Since when did bigots being "just trolls" or "not worth your time" because you went looking in the places where the content existed, start to mean that those people can't be criticized for their actions? People like this are borderline heightist themselves criticizing people who are trying to stop heightists while giving trolls, radical feminists, regular women, and any type of heightist the benefit of the doubt by rushing to their side in these ways. And as i said, no already protected group would think "blocking" or lack of contact would be a better solution than standing up to their oppressors, but regarding short men and men who aren't part of protected groups, retards like this seriously are proposing that covering your eyes and not engaging is better than fighting the fire and are giving the biggest pass to people to say what they want based on how radical their heightism is. This idea is only slightly worse than the not confirming stereotypes trope, and is basically a watered down version of that. And as the title says, I really do think that's what these people literally believe, because how much concern do they really have if they care more about how a bigot responds when engaged with than fighting that prejudice in any way it needs to be accomplished?

Short men are one of the only groups who aren't praised for confronting their aggressors. For any other social justice issue, you'll see people praised for murdering bigots with words, but short men are always expected to just shut-up and take it. People think that an opinionated short man is far worse than bigotry against short men, thus, we're never allowed to speak for ourselves. They protect the opinions of trolls and bigots, but we aren't granted the same privilege. The whole "don't feed the trolls" narrative is just a way to silence people to begin with. Of course, the idiotic end of this spectrum is Mikeypants on r/short who believes that confronting heightists is what causes 100% of heightism.(Of course, he does contradict himself by also blaming Hollywood, and also confronting heightism himself on occasionally.) Selectively labeling heightists trolls is just a mechanism to silence us by labeling us as irrational. It's blame shifting at its finest. The whole thing is idiotic because intelligent people should be encouraged to express themselves without being concerned with whether some snarky loser is scoring fake internet points by making fake posts. Those idiots aren't creating the narratives they're posting about, the narratives alleged "trolls" use are drawn from widespread societal biases against short men, thus, short men should be scoring points for speaking truth to idiocy, no matter whether the troll who posts it really believes it or not. People spend so much time shouting at short men for responding to trolls and bigots, yet, they won't give one iota of effort toward addressing heightism.

What's especially infuriating is that these people who shout at us for addressing heightism and tell us it's all in our heads and that we just need to chill out and wear better clothes and be more confident, they think that THEY'RE the voice of reason and we're irrationally angry for no reason whatsoever. They claim that we're just pretending to be persecuted. They claim that sharing our negative experiences with our height is being toxic. Yes, really.

To call those people, the ones who make heightist "jokes" and insult people for their height "trolls" is to minimise the impact of what they do and turn it into an individual issue, rather than an issue that is rooted within society. It is to ignore all the people who have risked immobility for an expensive surgery due to heightism. It is to mock all the people who have contemplated, or even committed suicide due to heightism, by saying that they were just too weak and should just have ignored the "trolls".

They also claim that we are incels - I've personally had the "incel" term used on me several times, from complaining about the ridiculous hoops we're made to go through when finding jobs, to saying that looks do in fact matter and that pretending otherwise doesn't accomplish anything, to not finding heightist jokes funny. I guess the "incel" term is just one of the many ways that we're told to just shut up and know our place.
