What I mean is, I saw this very interesting point made by the old GA a few times, and the premise was basically that even with all the perks the tall man receives, a short man experiences a much higher degree of penalty when it comes to his perceived worth. This is one instance to exemplify.
the social penalties for being a short male are far greater than the social rewards for being a tall male. There was even a study done which showed this, but I can't post it now because I'm mobile. Being slightly tall (as a male) is viewed no big deal. Being short is viewed as life changing. So much so that if you are short enough, you are even put in a separate category and stripped of your personhood ("a midget").
The nature of heightism seems to be that short men are place in a different category than average heighted and tall men, because average/tall men are "normal" or deviate from the norm in a quote on quote positive way. Also, even if a man is only a couple of inches below average he will face heightism, but conversely, a man of a couple inches above would still be seen as average height and would not benefit from heightism the way someone well over 6 feet does . I'm not starting a height categorization thread, but genuinely curious as to how true this is by heightism's stands without talking about numbers.
It's pretty nuanced of a concept,, and It seems like tallness for men has become way more glorified in a mere 5 years making this less true, and i don't even have to say why that is. So, the question is , In 2020, do you think the average short man still faces much more negativity for his shortness than praise a tall man gets for his tallness?
