The first commnter, JorgitoEstrella and quite a few others saw through it, "just be a jester to be funny?,"Just curious, are other minority groups encouraged to “self-depreciate” in order to be accepted in to the social fabric of society?", and of course bagel guy is going to be seen as the stereotype and a pocket prince, probably the equivalent of a beta or loser, but there were still a fair amount of short men encouraging "self deprecation". However , many of them saw through it, and that the video was obviously edited to hone in on the "bagel shop boss" and puppets are eating it up and reinventing the wheel with recycled memes such as this post.
It's definitely a bit odd that the upvotes and the comments are almost polar opposites, my guess is that could probably be the reddit algorithim . Some short men weren't getting it, for example saying "let others insult you" "You can make jokes without being self deprecating", but the latter can only be made out of self deprecation. It was obviously a bad post and continued the "bagel boss" meme, however I was astonished by how the garmins were downvoted. I think r/short itself (ofc not twiiter or 4chan) is reverting back to its original state and challenging heightism, like it did about 4 or 5 years ago. To sum up, the upvotes were absurd, but at least the commenters have better mentalities and understand the court jester ideology that people try to impose on us.

Aside from the trolls, I'm guessing the people who upvoted that thread just looked at the picture and upvoted it. People like that are rarely ready to actually click on the comments and have a discussion, because they know they would lose. For example, there's nothing they could respond with when asked why women aren't also told to self-deprecate about their bodies.
So you have the intelligent people upvoting the comments, while everyone else just pulls a hit and run after upvoting the image.

More garminism stemming from this bagel shop incident: old.reddit.com/r/short/comments/ccztdr/goodbye_rshort/They can't handle that not every short man enjoys being told to dance on command. What's funny is how they always huff and puff claiming they'll leave the subreddit, yet when we check back months later, the place is as whipped as ever.

I like how he is suggesting everyone else get therapy, yet, he is so fragile that he is leaving an anonymous internet forum because one or two people were mean to him. Not only that, but he decided to post a tantrum-infested "I'm leaving" thread in-order to garner sympathy. This is the type of person that is suggesting everyone else needs therapy

That subreddit(r/short) is truly disgusting. The whole thread HeightismAOS linked is people making short puns, and other simpletons who claim that they never post on r/short. However, the only time they make an appearance is when it is time to voice their displeasure with how awful r/short and short men as a whole are. The same goobers will be back the next time r/short gets some kind of buzz, all so they can do a repeat performance.
