There is just a one-off comment in r/boxing, but it shows the pride people take in degrading short men.

"Haha I called my friend a glorified midget during the best man speech I made for him last year. I thought I was being original!"
The thread is about 6'9 boxer Tyson Fury who enjoys ridiculing his opponents physical characteristics. Fury once referred to a 6'2 opponent as a "glorified midget" and everyone thought it was the most hysterical thing in the world.
However, boxing trash talk is one thing, and even though it is customary to roast the groom during a best-man speech, it should be beyond the means of good taste to refer to someone as a midget in front of mixed company during a formal event. Can you imagine a maid of honor referring to the bride as a glorified hippo during her speech? All hell would break loose if that were the case, but some smug low-effort fool thinks he's brilliant for calling the groom a midget.
This was actually a thread about Tyson Fury's comments directed toward new heavyweight champ Andy Ruiz. Fury slandered Ruiz for his weight, yet, the conversation took a turn toward discussing "midgets" and bragging about insulting short grooms at their wedding. I'm not sure if there's a subreddit in existence that doesn't have heightism as a component. I just posted an AITA thread I randomly stumbled across that was full of heightism, and now, I randomly find a boxing thread about a fat guy that even contains heightism. People are just chomping at the bit to degrade short people, and they'll take any opportunity to do so, even when the thread isn't supposed to be about height. In all fairness, the thread is about Tyson Fury, who has degraded people for their height before, thus, this is one of the catalysts as to why the conversation turned toward height, but this just shows that even when there is a tangential opportunity to degrade men for their height, people will more than happily take advantage of this opportunity. Then, theyscore favor with others by bragging about the times that they have ridiculed short men. It's all just one fun pile of camaraderie, and we're supposed to sit back and take this, in addition to pretending it doesn't exist.
