A tall guy in Ireland got convicted of sexual assault for groping women, and used the fact that he's "tall and handsome" as a defense with the logic being that he would never have to resort to such measures to obtain female companionship. He's probably not really wrong in that regard because we all know that tall men can be creepy and have their creepiness labeled as confidence, which leads to scenarios such as this one, in addition to when Donald Trump just walks up to women and "grabs them in the pussy." However, don't expect the media to make the connection that tallness being such a highly sought after trait is a substantial part of the narrative that is empowering guys of this ilk to act in this manner and often not receive any consequences for doing so. A lifelong of no accountability, not having to work for anything, having your opinion valued over others, and being coddled and protected leads directly to this type of entitlement, but we're the bad guys for pointing this out. You can blame men as a whole for this all you want, but as soon as you add the word "tall" into the mix, you're going to be met with fire and fury from every point of view that speaks on this issue.
Now, let's flip the script.
Can you imagine if a short guy was groping people and somehow used his shortness as a defense for his actions? Bagel Guy mentioned his height as the catalyst for why people mistreat, stated this as a means to explain his anger, and look how that turned out for him. He didn't grope or assault anyone, and as a matter of fact, he actually was assaulted on camera for merely being angry, yet, he was the only one who faced scrutiny over the entire issue. If a short guy used his height to defend against groping women, the media, social media, and society as a whole would descend on him like an angry wolfpack, armed with misrepresented studies, tired tropes, stereotypes, slurs, insults, and everyone would provide anecdotes about how awful short men are as a group. In this instance, there will be no outrage against tall men, there will be no stereotyping, there will be no skits on Jimmy Kimmel like there was with Bagel Guy, and there will be no feminist outpouring against entitled tall men. They will blame men as a group, but tall men will not be singled-out, even though the creeper in this instance literally used his height as a defense. R/short can't even discuss heightism without being labeled as incel and misogynist, yet, tall men such as the guy in this story and Donald Trump can participate in identical actions, yet, no one even considers labeling tall men as a group in-regard to their lifelong entitlement being a catalyst for this type of behavior. Even the few short women who address heightism outright refuse to group tall men together for their actions. Society outright refuses to bundle tall men together in an attempt to see if their height gives them a sense of entitlement, yet, any fictitious half-baked theory about short men intensifies the hatred against us exponentially, and dissent against these theories is not allowed no matter how much objective evidence is provided. This is all just more of the Halo Effect that tall men are given as a birthright, and you'd better believe that if the President of the US was a short guy, and some creeper came-out using his height as a defense against groping women, it'd be absolute open season on short men, and we'd be working toward more of a centralized effort of violence against short men as a whole. I try to avoid speaking in hyperbole, but heightism is intensifying rapidly to the point where we have to be prepared for every scenario. We're already well past the point of people advocating for the extermination of short men, people laughing at videos of short men being attacked and bullied, people downplaying evidence of short children committing suicide after being bullied by tall kids and school staff, and even when greeted with evidence of these scenarios, people double, triple, and quadruple-down on their heightism, so the future looks pretty bleak at this point, while on the other hand, tall men can use their height as a defense against sexual assault charges, and no one sees this as evidence that society's preference for tallness isn't the best way to conduct business in society. When will enough be enough? The answer is never until short people decide to see things for what they are and begin speaking about these issues. This forum is the best ongoing heightism discussion anywhere, yet, we only currently have four members who even give a damn enough about these issues to offer any comment whatsoever. Things are rapidly deteriorating for short men, but apparently, those of us who have the cajones to speak truth to power are going to have to suffer much more because of all the short do-nothings who continue to cower in the shadows while everyone takes target practice on us. We're not going anywhere though, and we'll see to it that the historical record will reflect what these do-nothings did to assist the status-quo in intensifying the hatred against short men.
